I had a good stay at Hotel Charsfield. the charming decor and cozy atmosphere really made it feel like home. The staff were incredibly helpful, sharing tips about public transport and even providing tram tickets. The only downside was that my room was a bit small, but it was clean and well-appointed, which made up for it.

Rooms

The room was small but clean and cozy, featuring a comfortable bed and lovely modern en suite. I appreciated the selection of teas and coffees. The room was above the kitchen, so I occasionally heard some noise, but it wasn't too distracting.

The staff were absolutely wonderful. they were friendly, professional, and genuinely interested in my experience in Melbourne. Their assistance with public transport was invaluable and helped make my trip seamless.

The hotel's location was perfect. it was conveniently situated across the road from a tram station, making it super easy to get into the city center. I enjoyed the quietness, being just out of the hustle and bustle, along with a lovely walk to explore Melbourne.

While I didn't dine in the restaurant, room service was surprisingly quick and the food quality was pretty good. I particularly liked the breakfast options that gave me the energy for my outings.

The hotel itself is full of character. the reading and billiard rooms added to the charming experience. It felt very cozy and inviting, a perfect retreat after exploring the city.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Charsfield Melbourne. The charming old building and friendly staff made for a welcoming experience. However, I did notice that the furnishings could use a refresh, particularly in the bathrooms, which were quite narrow. All things considered, the value and location made it worthwhile. I would definitely return.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were clean and spacious, though a bit dated with narrow bathrooms. I appreciated the crisp sheets but felt they could use some modernizing.
Service

The front desk staff were incredibly cheerful and helpful, providing useful directions and assistance whenever needed. They actually came to my room to help with the amenities, which was thoughtful.
Location

The hotel is conveniently located right across from a tram station, making it easy to access the CBD and other attractions. It felt removed from the city's hustle and bustle, yet everything was within reach.
Dining

While I didn’t dine much at the hotel, the breakfast options were decent but could use improvement. I only grabbed an apple before heading out, but I did hear good things about the restaurant.
Facilities

The hotel had a lovely atmosphere, and the laundry facilities were a plus. I also enjoyed the good-quality hairdryer and iron available in the room, which added to the convenience.

7.0/10

My stay at Hotel Charsfield Melbourne was a mixed experience. While the historic charm of the building and the friendly staff were highlights, the outdated rooms and noise levels significantly detracted from my comfort. The location is decent for city access, but the overall experience left me craving better accommodations and service.

Rooms
5.0
The room was disappointing, with almost no daylight and a narrow bathroom that felt cramped. The furniture took up most of the space, and I struggled with noise disturbance from the hallways and adjacent rooms.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival, recommending nearby attractions, but my overall experience with customer service was lacking, especially after the water issue in my room.
Location
6.0
The hotel is located on St Kilda Road, which is close to tram stations for easy city access. However, it’s not ideal for shopping or dining, as options nearby are limited.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were meager, and the food did not justify the costs. A better breakfast selection would have made a big difference.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel facilities seemed outdated and in need of refurbishment, which also impacted the overall experience. There were no notable amenities that stood out.

I had a lovely stay at Hotel Charsfield, where the charm of the heritage building really stood out. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the furnishings could use a bit of an upgrade to match the historical ambiance. Overall, it’s a great option for those looking for character in their accommodation rather than the corporate feel of many modern hotels.

Rooms
7.0
The room I stayed in had high ceilings and a modern bathroom, though the bathroom was quite narrow. Everything felt comfortable, and I enjoyed a restful sleep. However, the furniture could be upgraded to fit the hotel’s lovely old-world charm.
Service

The service was a highlight of my stay. The staff greeted me with smiles and provided helpful recommendations, making my visit enjoyable.

Situated right on St Kilda Road, the hotel was a short walk from the tram stop, which made getting around the city easy. It's a bustling area, yet I found my room to be quiet at the back of the hotel.
Dining

I didn't eat dinner at the hotel, but breakfast was okay, though it could use a bit more variety. It was cooked to order, which I appreciated.
Facilities

The hotel had nice facilities, including a reading and snooker room, which I enjoyed. Wi-Fi was a bit flakey, but there was a computer available in the reading room that worked fine.

7.2/10

My stay at Hotel Charsfield Melbourne was filled with charming character and history, which made it stand out from typical corporate hotels. The location was convenient, with trams right outside, though the noise from the hall could be bothersome. While the room was comfortable and clean, I noticed some oddities like mildew in the bathroom. Overall, I appreciated the warm service but felt certain areas, like WiFi and room cleaning times, could use improvement.

Rooms

I stayed in a spacious Deluxe room with high ceilings and lovely period features, although I found the modern furniture a bit out of place. The comfort level was great, which allowed for a restful night's sleep.
Service
9.0
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, making my check-in smooth and easy. They even offered a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate my wedding night!
Location
8.0
Situated on St Kilda Rd, the location was excellent for accessing trams, parks, and nearby restaurants. I enjoyed taking leisurely walks to explore the area and hop on trams to the city center.
Dining

The breakfast was cooked to order, though it felt a bit meager and not quite worth the price. However, the dining room was filled with light, making for a pleasant dining experience.
Facilities
5.0
While the hotel offered limited WiFi access and a cozy reading area, I encountered some issues like water pressure in the shower. Overall, the facilities felt a bit dated and could benefit from some upgrades.
